Silicone Made Even Better!

Over the past year or so I have been able to review a lot of wonderful (and a few not so wonderful) silicone baking and cooking pieces. It's amazing what they can do with that stuff and how versatile it is. But the one major complaint I have, especially with silicone ice cube trays, is how they are a little too flexible.

Practico Kitchen has come to my rescue, and I for one am very happy about it! They have made the Superb Cube 1.4 Inch Cube Silicone Ice Cube Tray with EZ-Release & No-Spill Steel Reinforced Rim. All I want to say is YAY!!

This ice cube tray is fantastic! It has all the benefits of silicone with the flexibility and ease of removing the cubes, but it also has the stability and does not wiggle around all over the place as you try to go from the faucet to the freezer with it and then try to find a stable place to put it so it does not bend or warp or spill.

I really like the size of this ice cube tray. There are 9 cubes in it and each of the cubes are 1.4", which is a good size to fit in pretty much every glass we own. The cubes last for a good amount of time without watering down your beverage.

The ice cube tray is safe for not just the freezer too. Like almost all silicone, this one can go in the oven up to 428°. The size of the compartments are a little small for most baking, but they would work great to make little petite fours for special occasions and they are a great size for dog treats!

The best thing about this ice cube tray is the steel reinforcement in the top edge. It really makes all the difference in good silicone to amazing silicone! You can hold the tray securely knowing it is not going to bend or shift or wiggle around. I hope Practico Kitchen makes a lot more pieces to their collection!

Love Using These Dehydrator Sheets For More Than Just Dehydrt

I have always love preserving my own food, and every chance I get to do so I take. I feel good about knowing exactly what is in our food and where it came from. One of my favorite ways to store food long term is to dehydrate it. I do this especially with all the herbs I grow. Dehydrating them assures that I will have good chemical free herbs to use all winter long and into spring before the new plants are big enough to harvest.

One thing that really helps in dehydrating foods is to have good dehydrator sheets. The quality of the sheets is important and you want ones that will make the whole process go as quickly as possible and as safely as possible. That's where Simple Royal comes in. They make some fantastic dehydrator sheets that work wonderfully!

The box comes with 9 sheets that are 14" x 14" and fit all 5 and 9 drawer Excalibur Dehydrator models. They can be cut to fit many other brands too as well as racks to be used in your oven. And that is another really cool thing about the sheets, they can be used to bake or dehydrate in your oven! Love that! Dehydrating in my oven is one thing I have done for a long time. 2 of the sheets work well on an oven rack to dehydrate things.

The sheets are a high-quality Teflon that is paper thin, flexible, reusable, resizable, and washable. I really like that I can cut them to size for the pans I use to dehydrate foods. They are heavier than parchment paper, thinner than silicone mats, and can be used over and over. You won't throw these out for a long time! They are fabulous. I even like them on my counter as I am working on doughs for baking bread and rolls! They protect the counter and make it easy to transfer things to a baking sheet.

If you have a dehydrator or love to bake, these are the best things for both jobs! They cost less than one silicone mat and are better than using parchment paper.

A Sleek, Simply Designed, Good Notebook

I'm a paper freak. I wholeheartedly admit I love paper. I love the feel of it, the sound of crinkly paper, the look, the textures, and more. It's one of those odd things about me that a lot of people don't know.

I also love earthy-looking notebooks and carry one with me all the time. I learned a long time ago to always have a notebook and pen with me wherever I go. You never know when you need to write down something important, have to leave a note, etc... Ans if the notebook is sleek, good looking and functional, all the better!

Well I was introduced to Northbooks and their fabulous 5x8 notebook! I really like this little notebook!

Here is a little about them:
- Designed in NYC and made in Brooklyn, Northbooks is a distinctly American brand. I appreciate products made in the USA!
- Flexible and durable soft cover of 30% post consumer kraft paper, in the color neutral. I love the neutral color. It is not stark white and much easier to use in the sunshine. The cover is soft and mine arrived with a small crease in it and through to many of the pages, but it is still very nice!
- 96 pages of smooth college ruled, acid-free paper, certified for ecological sourcing and manufactured in the US. I love a company that keeps things simple and safer for the environment!
- Sized small enough to pack along and large enough to write it all down, works as a travel journal and as a notepad for list making. The size of the notebook is perfect for tucking in my purse or keeping in the car. With the lines not being teeny tiny, even my husband who has vision (and bad vision) in only one eye can see well enough to write in it as well as see what is written on the page.
- High quality paper that is a joy to write on, and keeps ink from bleeding across pages. I have found that even my gel pens do not bleed through the pages, which is fabulous since I do doodle a lot in my notebooks!

The notebooks are put together very well. Mine has held up with repeated shoving in to my purse, taking out, opening flat and more. None of the pages have even come close to being loose. It's flexible, yet sturdy!

If you need a good, yet small notebook that can be tucked into lots of places, does not weigh a lot and can still hold a lot of info, this is what you need! The notebook is really nice and I plan on getting more of them!

You can purchase your own Northbooks Ruled 5x8 Notebook HERE! it comes in single, 2 pack, 3 pack and 5 pack.
