Looking For Something To Help You Sleep?

One thing many of us suffer from is lack of sleep, whether occasional or insomnia. It's no fun and I know personally. I go through bouts of insomnia and struggle with getting a good night's rest a lot.

I have tried all kinds of things, except prescription products. Most I have tried have helped me get to sleep, but I have side effects from them. I often have horrible dreams when I take things to help me sleep, the kind that are hard to shake off when you wake up. You probably know what I mean.

The other thing that always happens is I have a hard time getting going in the morning. I can't seem to shake off the effects of the sleep aid. I drag for several hours trying to function and get things done. I've even cut back the dosage of sleep aids to help me not be as draggy in the morning, but I still am. No fun at all!

But I have found one thing that helps me better than any other sleep aid I have tried, Nutrabear Melatonin Gummies for Adults & Kids. I can not tell you how happy I have been with this stuff. It has made a nice difference for me in helping me get some good sleep.

The gummies are really nice. The dosage is 1-2 gummies, each gummy having 2500 mcg of melatonin in them. so the total normal dosage is 5000 mcg. The gummies have a really nice light strawberry flavor that is not super sweet, just enough to be enjoyable. I like them a lot and will admit that they taste good enough that I would recommend if you have them in the house with children, keep them well out of reach to avoid any serious problems! They could easily be considered candy by kids.

I found taking these that I fall asleep fairly easy. It takes about 30 minutes for them to take effect, and it is nice and relaxing. I doze off and sleep soundly for the night.

So far I have not had the horrible dreams as I have with other sleep aids. But then not all other sleep aids gave me bad dreams, just some. I do only take one gummy though. Two is too many for me. The big test for me was how I felt in the morning. I am happy to say, that other than the first 10-15 minutes after getting up, I have not had that walking around in a fog kind of feeling as I have had with other similar products. I have felt like I could get going and have a normal day. Can't even begin to tell you how nice of a change that is. I have slept well and was able to get going! That's a win-win to me!

I think these are fantastic and would recommend them to you. If you are considering them for children, I suggest you speak to your doctor first to make sure of the dosage. Nice thing is that each gummy could be cut in half for an even smaller dosage.

One Happy Kitty Sitting On Her Bed

When you live in a small home and need to fit all your furniture in, it can be hard to have fun places for your cat to enjoy. Some of the windows might not be as accessible as they would like (or I would like). And cats love to look out the window and watch what is going on and soak in the sun.

When I got the Pets and More Window Cat Bed, I was excited. I had high hopes for something that would work in one of our windows and that our cat, Elliot, would enjoy.

The bed comes unassembled. Fair warning, the directions have obviously been translated by someone who really does not know English as well as they should to be translating. They do have lot of pictures to help you figure it out though, so between the translation and pictures, it's not too bad.

We did have a bit of a problem with part of the assembly. You have to put plastic tubes down sewn sleeves on each side of the cloth bed. One sleeve went in just fine. The other, well not so much. The sleeve was sewn a little smaller than it should have been. It was first hard to get the plastic tube in the opening, and then moving into position was very hard! My husband took over for me and slowly got it wiggled into place.

The bed comes with 4 large suction cups to hold it on the window, two on the frame itself, and two attached to support wires you attach high up the window, You have to attach the support wires by putting a plastic piece through a a hole in the back of the suction cup. It takes a little umph top get them in, but they stay nice and secure once in place.

I was a little concerned about the bed staying put on the window with the cold and hot differences and a 15 lb cat, but the suction cups hold beautifully! It has not moved since we put it in place. We also wondered if the wires would cause a problem. Cats love to rub on things and our cat started rubbing the side of her face on the wires almost right away. We wondered if that would cause too much tension on them and loosen the suction cups. So far it has not.

The bed itself has a really nice faux lambs wool piece that Velcros on the top making it super soft and comfy. I love that it comes off and can be washed as needed! The main part of the bed could be hosed off without any problem since it is made from a parachute type material.

It took a couple of days for our cat to get used to the bed being there and us putting her on it. Now she jumps up on it by herself and enjoys looking out the window. We have noticed that she is enjoying it more and more all the time. She gets up there to check out noises she hears, to take a nap in the sunlight, and to get away from the dogs.

We are very happy with the window bed. There are some improvements that could be made, but it works well, the price is good, and our cat loves it!

Incessant Divagation

“CAN'T SLEEP? READ THIS ARTICLE”
by Rick Jones, Husband of the Minister's Wife

When I was pastoring, I often changed the church sign message myself. I enjoyed using unusual sayings that might attract attention, then remain in a driver's mind long after they had passed the sign. Occasionally, people would stop their vehicles on the side of the road and take pictures of the messages. That always made me feel like I'd done something right.

Once I used a series of three messages for a personal joke – though they each made sense on their own. I started with

CAN'T SLEEP?
DON'T COUNT SHEEP
TALK TO THE SHEPHERD

followed by

CAN'T SLEEP?
A CLEAR CONSCIENCE
MAKES A SOFT PILLOW

and ending with

TROUBLE SLEEPING?
COME HEAR
OUR PASTOR PREACH!

I thought the last one was hilarious. I was sure people would think someone had pulled a fast one on the pastor, when I was the person who put it on the sign. Plus, the sermon that Sunday was called “A Cure for Insomnia”, in which I told people that a clear conscience makes a soft pillow, so they should talk to the Shepherd and confess their sins. [David relates his quality of sleep to his relationship with God in several Psalms.]

While that third message was up, one day Lois thought she heard something outside [we lived next to the church]. She stepped out and saw a woman who had stopped her van and was standing in our yard, taking pictures of the sign. When the photographer realized that she had an audience, she ran like she'd been caught vandalizing the sign! She jumped into her van and stomped the gas pedal, spinning her tires and spraying gravel into our grass as she made her “getaway”.

When Lois told me the story, we both had a good laugh. But I didn't think it was quite as funny when I was outside later, cleaning the lawn of gravel.

Next Friday: a sampling of some of the allegedly funny and clever church sign messages we displayed

The Importance Of Sleeping In The Dark

One of the most important things you can do for your health is get a good night's sleep. But let's face it, that does not always happen and because of it you suffer and so does everything you do.

One of the biggest problems with getting enough sleep is actually easy to fix; sleeping in the dark. Some of you may say that it is no big deal, that you have slept with a light on or live in an area where there are street lamps on all night long and you have gotten used to it. But light or the lack of light are physical as well as mental triggers for your body to do something, either sleep or be awake.

Here's what the National Sleep Foundation has to say about it:
Light and darkness are powerful cues that tell your body it's time to rest, or get you ready for a productive day. So it's no surprise that light in the bedroom (as well as light peeking in from outside) has an impact on the quality of your sleep.
Artificial light after dark can send wake-up messages to the brain, suppressing the production of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin and making it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep. In fact, a recent study showed that even bright room light could have this chemical effect. And early sunrays begin to activate the body and can cause some of us to rise before we're ready.
With a little thought and creativity, though, you can use the body's light sensitivity to your advantage. Consider low-wattage, incandescent lamps at your bedside to help you wind down in the hours before sleep. Survey your room for any other sources of artificial light, for example, streetlamps or porch lights, or even the glow from the power buttons of electronics like TV's or bright alarm clocks. Consider blocking these to make the room completely dark while you sleep. If you go to the bathroom during the night, do so by nightlight, instead of turning on stronger overhead lights.
If you can wake up rested with the sun after 7-9 hours of sleep, then by all means welcome the early morning rays. If not, use darkening curtains or shades to keep your body in sleep mode until it's time to wake up and start the day.
One of the easiest and most cost efficient ways to help you get that dark room effect you need to help you sleep is the wear a sleep mask. Lazy Lidz has a simple, yet very effective one.

The Lazy Lidz Sleep Mask is made from very comfortable material. The outside part is a satin-like material and the inside is a super soft micro fiber material that feels wonderful next to your skin. It doesn't have seams or edges that rub and leave marks on your face.

The wide elastic strap is completely adjustable, making it a comfortable fit for anyone. Once you find what feels the best on you, simply slip it on and off without moving the Velcro strap again. I also suggest cutting off the excess strap once you get it where you like it, so it does not get in the way or bunch up.

Another thing that helps anyone get a good night sleep is silence. In today's society it's hard to get that all night long. The Lazy Lidz Sleep mask comes with a set of ear plugs that help block out the noise that could be interrupting your sleep. One thing I like is that the strap on the sleep mask has two small slots to keep your ear plugs in so you don't lose them! Very smart!

Getting a good night's sleep may not always be possible. Life happens. Kids need you. It's just the way things go! but if you can increase the number of nights you get good sleep it will immensely improve your outlook on life as well as your health!
