High Cotton by Debby Mayne
If you want to read a book that will completely draw you in and leave you wanting more, this is one for you! This is the first book of the "Bucklin Family Reunion" series, and I can hardly wait for the next one to come out.
High Cotton is filled with a wonderful, southern family who all love God, love each other, and love family reunions, of which they have several a year. I love how Debby approached the first person narrative in a unique way. There are four specific family members the book focuses on; Shay Henke, Puddin’ Henke, Missy Wright Montague, and Sally Wright. Each chapter of the book is from the point of view of one of these four women, and you bounce from one to the next seeing how intertwined their lives are. At times, it's easy to get a little distracted and lose track of who is doing what when and where, but to me, that is very much like real life.
There is comedy, hidden secrets, family drama, hope, chaos, and a group of people we can all relate to in some way. You will laugh, maybe shed a tear or two, laugh some more and cheer them on as you see how each woman grows through changes and turmoil with the support of this amazing, crazy southern family.
