Chuester has developed one I think is fantastic! I seriously like this beverage cup more than any other I have tried, and I have tried a lot.
The UpCup is made of a double layer of glass. There is a ¼" space between the inner and outer walls of glass. That small area makes all the difference in keeping you hot beverages hot and you cold beverages cold. It acts like a built in insulation for your drinks and your hands.
The neat thing is that the cold or hot does not affect your hands as you hold the cup. You won't burn your fingers at all, yet it will keep your coffee (or other hot drinks) hot for quite a while. And it holds 14 oz of liquid, which is a good size.
Around the outside of the cup and the lid for the top is medical grade silicone. The silicone is soft and flexible and does not change the flavor of the beverages at all. I like how easily the lid slips on and off when you need to move it, yet it stays put while it is on. Once it is on correctly it won't budge or slip around any, and it is easy to get it on correctly. One neat thing is that you can drink just fine from the cup without the lid. The rim is curved and comfortable to drink from. So it is good for at home and on the go!
The cup and lid can both be put in the dishwasher on the top shelf to wash or they can be washed by hand. Since the glass is all one solid piece and the silicone lid fits so snugly, there are not any gaskets of rubber rings or extra pieces you need to try and get off to clean and get behind to remove nasty build-up. Two pieces, that's it! The silicone fits snug enough and stretches that it does not need a gasket. Love that!
This is a really nice beverage cup and even though it is glass, it is well made and sturdy. I've banged it (not on purpose) several times and it has held up fine. I would not recommend dropping on the floor though. It is glass!
