Handee Bands Develop Good Lifelong Habits and A Giveaway!

As a child I loved being active. My brothers, cousins , neighbor kids and I were always on the go. My Mom would see us off in the morning and hardly see us until supper time. We rode our bikes, played in the barn, ran all over the place, never slowing down. We were always active and learned so much as we were on the go.

Unfortunately, kids today are not quite as active as years ago, but there are fun ways to get your kids in the habit of being active, learning how to use their muscles and develop coordination, and developing a lifestyle of healthy exercise. That's with Handee Bands!

When I first learned about Handee bands I was excited! I know how easy it is to sit, and sit for too long. I work from home and on the computer, so sitting is a lot of what I do. Getting up and moving is something I am way to guilty of not doing enough of! Kids can run into that same problem, and when that happenes as small children, they don't learn all about what it is their bodies are capable of doing. It's important to help our kids (and grand kids!) to keep moving and developing good habits!

So what is Handee bands? Simple, it's an amazing exercise program to help kids ages 3-8 to develop core muscles and upper body strength, all contained in a nifty flip book. But it is an exercise program that makes all of it fun too! Each of the 15 exercises in the book are matched with a fun little monster character that teaches your child how to do a specific exercise and encourages them to keep up with it. This book cracks me up. The drawings are super cute and get pretty much anyone's attention. Kids love the images and it helps keep them motivated!

In the back of the book is a super nifty pouch that stores a Handee Band, or simply a colorful exercise band that has just the right resistance for kids to use (and the occasional adult who exercises with their kids). It's a bright yellow and it is also marked with small hand prints that the little monsters in the book reference for proper hand placement on the band.

The pouch also holds a wipe-off marker that kids can use on the two pages for keeping track of what exercises they do each day. The book also comes with a neat little sheet of stickers that can be used as special rewards when your kids reach specific goals.

Handee Band exercises help with:
 Climbing & monkey bars
 Balance & Coordination
Opening tight jars or snack boxes
Reaching up for items on a shelf
 Holding pencils and markers
 Pushing and pulling heavy items
 Carrying heavy backpacks
 Manipulating snaps and buttons

Each and every one of those things is important to help kids as they grow. And some of those things are even important to help grandmas keep limber too! LOL! Handee Bands provide sensory input so children gain a better understanding of where their bodies are in space and the amount of pressure required when pushing or pulling. Kids can use the Handee Band at home, in the car, at the park, on vacation, while watching television or during homework breaks. They are super easy, very portable and lots of fun! Believe me, I tried them myself! And it only takes about 15 minutes a day, doing just a few of the exercises to help your kids learn some very important things bout their body and living a healthy life!

  2. This is really interesting. I have never heard of it before. Fortunately my kid gets lots of exercise (we don't let him play video games, we do not own iPads or tablets, or hand him the phone) He is quite active always playing sports, hiking with us, running at the park, etc… but I love this as a tool for teachers. It would make a great activity for the class room!
