While these gloves are comparable to other such gloves, they suffer the drawbacks of all silicone “BBQ gloves”: often difficult to remove and clumsy to use. Red Dust Products says that they are “able to sustain heat up to 425 Fahrenheit for a sustained amount of time,” but that claim can be beaten by most Nomex fiber gloves, which I believe are superior to this product in every way except for the fact that the Roo gloves are waterproof. They say they fit most hand sizes, but they were tight n me and would not even fit the hands of our two sons.
We love the idea of being able to pick things up and not having to worry about the heat, but they really are kind of awkward to use. You don't have a lot of finger dexterity using them and sometimes need that when cooking. We will still use them from time to time, especially while barbecuing and moving large pots.
Oh and the little tiny pot holder has a magnet to hold it on the edge of the stove or your fridge. It works with small plates or bowls from the microwave.
