Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage

It is my honor and privilege to tell you about a very sweet couple and two of my dearest friends.

Mr. and Mrs. David and Sharon Sehorn are celebrating their 50th Anniversary today. As far as I am concerned and many others who love them dearly, this is a HUGE deal! Many couples don't make it even half this far.

But let me tell you a little about them. When we first met, Sharon and I became fast friends. We've been described as two crazy peas in a pod! They are probably right, we can get in a lot of fun trouble together. She is one of the most caring and giving people I know. She loves her Savior and is fearless in sharing Him with even strangers. I admire her boldness immensely. Sharon's love for studying the Word of God is addictive. Anyone who knows her is aware that she will not answer the phone or the door while she is studying her Bible. She takes it very seriously and applies what she learns faithfully. Sharon is one crafty creative person too who can come up with some of the neatest things. Her sense of humor is so fun and quirky. One of her favorite things are puns. They really make her giggle. She loves bright and bold colors, in fact the brighter, the better (quite the opposite of me). Oh and she has this weird thing about flip flops. I'm guessing easily 50 pairs are in her closet. LOL!

Dave on the other hand, was slow to get to know. He's a very quiet man for the most part, that is until you get to know him. Dave can talk your ear off when he gets excited about something, and I love to be around him then. Well, I love to be around him anytime, but especially when he gets excited about something. He has a wonderful sense of humor which he is not afraid to share and he appreciates humor in others! Dave can be a little gruff around the edges, but has a tender, loving heart. I've known him to hurt when other people hurt. He too loves to study the Word of God and equally does not like to be bothered when he is. My husband was the person who got to lead Dave to the Lord, and it has been a joy to watch him grow in grace over the years. He is also a gamer. It cracks me up when he starts talking to my boys about all their Xbox games.

Like any couple, Dave and Sharon have had their ups and downs, good and bad days, struggles and tremendous blessings. But what I love about them is they are real. Neither of them is concerned or worried about what other people think of them. They are who they are and are not afraid of it. They don't like being the center of attention, in fact this blog post will embarrass them both. But behind the scenes, they are two of the most loving, giving and sneaky people about sharing and giving I know. They are generous to the core knowing that all they have is from God and if He wants them to have more, He will give it. I love that in them!

So, Happy Anniversary Dave and Sharon! You are loved and appreciated by many. Enjoy this very special day.

  8. Happy Anniversary Sharon. You were always my "go to" person when I was beginning my walk with Christ. You always had an answer and you know so much and you are willing to share. I haven't seen you at Meijer's in a while. Our "unofficial" meeting place. I hope that you are doing well. I love you lots.
