Egoz Mummy Sleeping bad, Not For Us, How About You?

Our family loves to go camping! I thought it would be great to try out a new sleeping bag. One company that makes sleeping bags we tried out is Egoz.

The specific bag we tried is the "Almond" Mummy Sleeping Bag in black. It's easy to carry, warm, adult sized, for outdoor use, sports, camping, and hiking, and comes with a carry bag, and is extremely light weight. The bag comes in what is called a "stuff bag". It's called that because that's what you do, stuff the sleeping bag in it to carry it around. There is a nice long cord on the small bag to carry the sleeping bag over your shoulder or to and from camp. It also has a toggle to hold the top of the bag closed and it moves easily up and down the cord.

The sleeping bag has the traditional two-way zipper that goes all the way across the bottom and completely up one side. The zipper moves smoothly and after my husband was in the bag for a while he worked it to see how easy it was to get in and out. He said it was not bad, but not as good as other bags we have tried. At the top of the sleeping bag where the zipper ends is a small strap that covers the zipper tongue with Velcro. This is a nice touch and keeps the zipper from poking into you while you sleep.

At the top of the sleeping bag is a small hood-like area that when you are inside that comes around your head some to keep you warm. It will snug up tight around your head, hence the mummy term for describing it. You are completely enclosed in it. My husband tried it out for me and he didn't have anything positive to say about it. He is 5'10 and weighs about 200 lbs. I had to help him get into it and then his first reply was "I feel like I'm in a body bag". He said it was so tight that there was no way he could ever imagine sleeping in it. As I was taking some pictures of it he was becoming claustrophobic. It may work for kids or teens, but he wouldn't recommend it for an adult.

This was however, our first use of this type of sleeping bag. The word "mummy" describes this bag perfectly. If you are using to sleeping in a bag like this one, then you will probably love it.

It is a 3 Season Sleeping Bag, Temp. rated +30ºF to +40ºF, 190cm long + 30cm top and 75cm wide. It only weighs 3.2 lbs. The outside is 100% polyester and the fill is 100% cotton.

Rolling the bag up and putting it in the carry bag was an adventure I would not want to often repeat. Although I understand why the carry bag needs to be a little snug to hold the sleeping bag, it seems too tight and difficult to use. I would give this sleeping bag 2 stars out of 5.

But this bag may work well for you. It might be perfect for your teen or adolescent child, or for a very small adult.
