Lighting Your Home and A Flash Giveaway!!

My husband says I am kind of picky when it comes to how we decorate our home. I may be just a tad picky, but I know what I like and what I don't. Thankfully, he doesn't really have a decorating style, unless you consider comfy and relaxed a decorating style.

Our home leans very much toward the colonial/country/old fashioned/antique decorating style. I've never really been able to give it a specific title since the "professionals" keep changing what the title is. To put it simply, our home is full of family antiques and treasure that are comfortable and useful! I guess your could say it's comfy and relaxed. Oh no, my husband does has a decorating style! LOL!

Simple things really do make a big difference in creating a specific look or style. Details are important and learning to see where the details should be and having those extra little touches is something that a lot of us can struggle with. But if you just look around your home and pay attention to where your eye is drawn, you can find the places where the extras can help out the most. If your eye is drawn to a specific point in a room, focus on that point with the little special things that say who you and your family really are.

A small, but important thing that can help any room is lighting. The kinds of lamps and fixtures you have can make a big impact on the look and the mood of a room. I love lamps that wrought iron or similar metals or heavy brass candlesticks that look like the walked out of the 1800's. But good lighting fixtures can get a bit ugly if they have the wrong kind of bulb in them. Seriously, those curly bulbs just do not look right in a wrought iron lamp! Tacky!!

When I was a set of Enlightened Ambience Antique Reproduction Light Bulbs to try out I was thrilled! These are exactly the kind of bulbs that work in the kind of lighting we have in our home.

When they arrive in your home they come in a very well packed and protected box. I was impress with the amount of protection each bulb has. They are well protected and easy to get in and out of the package!

Now not all the lighting in our home is exactly what I would choose. It came with the house and we have not been able to replace it and won't while it is still working and looking okay (no wasting good money on something that is not broken). But adding these bulbs to the lighting has helped (for me especially) the look of the room. I love the way they look and the amount of light they give off. They are only 40 watts and have a 3000 hour life-span, so they work with a large number of fixtures and lamps making them perfect for any home. The smoke finish and spiral filament really add the the whole look of the bulb! Oh and they are dimmable too! Nifty!! (These bulbs do not fit standard fixtures. They are size E-12. Standard bulbs you use every day are A series bulbs)

I love these bulbs and will be getting more for other lights and replacements. I think they would fit not only in our style of decorating, but in many others as well.
