This is an amazing book of suspense and commitment to reaching people in the hostile country of Afghan. The author uses a protective pseudonym for safety and that gets your attention right away.
The first part of the book moves a little slowly, but the information and events that take place keep your attention. You just know something is coming soon, and it does!
Having been in tough situations with people who do not agree with you or like you, I have a small touch of what could bring a lot of fear into a person's life. The main character, Marie, shows a determination to do what she was called to do. I can appreciate this a lot. No matter what was happening, she was going to follow through at any cost.
The events are based on true stories, things that really happened. It's an eye opener to people who don't understand the life of a missionary in a hostile country. I really think this is a must read for anyone!
Kate McCord was born in the south, grew up on the east coast, and currently lives in a rural community in the US northeast. She gave her life to Christ as a young adult. Kate worked for most of 9 years in Afghanistan, living in country for five years as a Christian humanitarian aid worker. She wrote “In the Land of Blue Burqas”, a non-fiction book about sharing faith in Afghanistan and is currently drafting a novel about walking with Christ in the hard times. Now she is working as a Writer, Speaker, Facilitator, Trainer & Mentor; seeking to help others grow in intimacy with Christ and minister what flows from that intimacy.
