Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions and A Giveaway #biblebeautylady

If you have been following my blog for any length of time, you know I love to read. I have been blessed to read a lot of really good books, but the ones I like the most are practical ones, the ones that help you with your daily life.

Recently I received just such a book. Rachelle Weisberger has written a book called Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions. This is not your ordinary book with beauty tips by any means. The book takes you back to ancient times, describes the beauty practices of women back then and how those practices have stood the test of time and are still able to help you.

Rachelle Weisberger is a talented painter and a licensed cosmetologist, makeup artist and skin care specialist. Her career in the beauty industry has spanned more than two decades and has included creating her own line of holistic cosmetics. She expanded her expertise to the medical field serving as staff cosmetologist for a major plastic surgery and dermatology center in northern New Jersey, specializing in camouflage makeup for problem skin, post-cosmetic surgery and cancer patients. As the beauty director of a chain of women’s fitness centers, Rachelle introduced an integrated beauty, health and fitness program. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States giving seminars, consulting and sharing her expertise and is an inspirational role model for healthy aging.

Here's a little bit more of the specifics of the book:
Biblical Beauty delivers a well-researched, multifaceted wisdom about being more beautiful. Renowned beauty expert, Rachel Weisberger redefines what is beautiful through the iconic women of the Hebrew Bible by exploring the underlying relationship between their physical attributes and hidden inner qualities, interwoven with their individual spirituality. Weisberger shares her knowledge in the art of makeup and skin care, introducing a beauty routine based on healthy habits and mindful choices. With these secrets from your ancient forebears, you'll  enjoy a modern celebration of beauty in your own life.
There was one aspect of the book that I particularly enjoyed, Rachelle shares one specific step of beauty from each woman. For example when she taught about Deborah the focus was on Sun Care, Rahab was on Make Up, Esther's focus was Fragrance. One chapter is fascinating teaching on the ancient historical practices of that specific woman, and the next is modern equivalents and how we can use what was learned so long ago to help us improve our lives through simple, yet effective beauty practices today.

As a history buff, I truly enjoyed reading all of the information on the lives of these ancient women. I have always enjoyed learning about the Women of the Bible, but learning more specifically about their beauty practices was a special treat. Many of the modern solutions are things I can easily begin to practice in my own life and will. I really appreciated the focus on keeping beauty simplistic and holistic, without overusing products and letting your inner beauty shine through, especially by taking care of your health.

A recipe shared in Rachelle's book is particularly yummy. I keep frozen berries on hand just for this smoothie.

Happy, Healthy Berry Smoothie

1½ cups almond, rice, or soy milk
½ cup fresh blueberries or 1 cup fresh raspberries, strawberries or blackberries, or 5 ounces frozen berries
1 tablespoon acai powder
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tablespoon flaxseed powder
1 or 2 scoops protein powder (optional

Mix in blender and enjoy for breakfast or as a pick-m-up during the day. (©Biblical Beauty, pg 132)

This is a book I think that any modern woman would benefit from and enjoy. I will be referring to it often from now on.
