A Great Idea, But....

Rick was sweet enough to try out this product, the Homar No Tie Shoelaces for Kids and Adults. Here's what he had to say about them.

The purpose of this product is to convert a “lace-up and tie” shoe into a slip-on shoe. The stretchable bands which look like laces are inserted into the lace holes of the shoe with a special tool that is included with them. I found the process to be difficult but manageable. It would take about half an hour to convert a pair of shoes with 8 pairs of holes each.

I tested the product by wearing the left shoe as a slip-on while leaving the right shoe unchanged.
The left shoe was easy to put on and take off. This convenience is, I suppose, the main reason for using the product.

The problem I found was that the shoe was not held on as snugly as the right shoe. My foot kept slipping toward the front of the shoe, which put additional pressure on the toes. This problem could not be remedied by tightening the bands, which were loose nearer the toes.

If you are hoping to convert old pairs of lace-up shoes to slip-on shoes, this product may be helpful, but it would be impossible to tell how snugly the shoes would fit until you tried them. I would not recommend this product for new shoes – it would make more sense to purchase slip-on shoes that already fit well than take a chance on having shoes which might slide around on the foot.

They come in packages of two. You can purchase two sets of black, two sets of white, black with gray, black with read, sky blue with blue,  pink with colorful (rainbow), or black and white in both adults and kids sizes.
