Sometimes when I get products in my husband really is interested in them, so he asks if he can review them for me. THis is one of those products! Here's what Rick had to say.
The Aennon Headlamp, which included the necessary 3 AAA batteries [uninstalled], did not include instructions on installation or operation. Instructions were not necessary, since the words “open” and close” embossed along with directional arrows near the only slot on the unit, were plain. It is easily opened with a large flat-head screwdriver or knife, or even a penny [I used a dinner spoon which happened to be within reach at the time]. That's very convenient and practical, since a need for new batteries could easily be accompanied by dark conditions, so I consider this a major advantage over many versions of headlamps.
Operation, too, is simple, using one button to cycle through the four light settings. There are three intensities of white light [using 2, 4, and 8 LED bulbs] and one red light [2 bulbs] settings. I did not think there was enough change between the first two settings to justify the 4 bulb choice. The low and high settings were very helpful. I would rarely have a use for the red setting, but it seemed comparable to that of other headlamps I have tested.
There is no adjustment for beam width, but the angle of the light is easily adjustable while being worn. The unit is secured to the head with a band that goes across the top of the head, connecting in the back with a band which goes around the sides of the head. This arrangement is adjustable and keeps the unit steady without feeling constricting. There is also a firm foam pad which rests the headlamp against the forehead comfortably.
I use a headlamp [which hangs by our front door with the keys and sunglasses all the time] several times a week when walking our dogs at night. After testing this unit for review, I am replacing my old one with the Aennon Headlamp.
