Welcome To My Christmas Home Tour

It's Christmas time and I love it! This is my favorite holiday and I love to decorate our home each year. My style is not so typical, quite country and primitive early American, but it is very much me and my family. I thought it would be fun to share a little tour of my home with some of the decorations. Hope you enjoy it!

A lot of the decorations are ones that I have made or friends have made and given me. Others involve a lot of my antiques around the house, like my hanging sewing cupboard and my spinning wheel.

An old Santa hat with a wonderful snowman and a group of salt glaze things in my living room.

These are some of my favorite snowmen, carefully crafted by a friend. I just love them!! The funky pine tree in the back is made from pieces of pine cones. I made that about 10 years ago.

My JOY sign hanging in my living room. I painted this a year ago and just love it! It's a daily reminder of what a wonderful season this is.

One of my feather trees with antique ornaments (my Grandmas) hanging on it. The little guys under it are from my Mom. I used to play with them when I was a child.

The Nativity on the left is mine. It always has a prominent place in our home. The one on the right was my Moms. It is sitting on the china cupboard she gave me along with one of my favorite crocks. I used to play with the characters form the Nativity when I was little.

Our tree. It's small since our home is quite small. I like it since I can do special themes now without going overboard. All the ornaments on it I made over the past 2 years.

A close-up of the ornaments that are on the tree. All of them have paper medallions that were made from old hymnals from churches we used to go to.

This is the centerpiece on our coffee table in the living room and then the decorations on top of our pantry cupboard. The round box on the right was a lunch box that my Grandma used to take to the one room school she taught at back in the early 1900's.

One of the walls in my kitchen and a close-up of the stocking on the rope winder. The little angels were hand made.

My snowman muffin tin I painted about 8 years ago and the small garland hanging over my kitchen sink.

My Gingerbread Man hanging from my crock stand and an iron  candle sconce hanging from the edge of the kitchen cupboards with some antique scales and iron hooks.

Some of my crocks on a kitchen counter.

My old doll hutch that was made by my Great Grandpa for my Mom back around 1930. She played with it a lot, so did her sister and so did I. The drawers have all her old doll dishes and some of mine too. It's very special. Hanging next to it on the right are some of my betty lamps, one dating back to the 1700's! A few of my pewter pieces are here as well, and my candle mold from the early 1800's.

My pewter measuring mugs.

More snowmen sitting on shelves in our long hallway with some brass and iron candlesticks.

And we are back to the living room and the snowman pillow on the couch. So there you have my short tour of our home decorated for Christmas. I would love to have you all over. I have a thing about having company! It's always a joy to have friends over. We'd share some of our Christmas cookies with you. I'm sure you would enjoy them.

Thanks for stopping by!
So what style do you decorate your home in? I would love to know in the comments.

  3. I love your sense of style! I tend more towards a modern minimalist style, but come the fall and winter, I love putting out the antique-y, folksy, and natural decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
