When you are in a committer marriage it's hard to admit to others when things aren't as good as they may appear. Author Darlene is open and honest about her relationship with her family and the struggles they go through. Let's face it, family life can be tough and things happen in our world that can make it tougher if we aren't careful.
In each chapter Darlene shares a tip for wives to help them work on their marriage and making it more godly. It's refreshing to read her honest feeling in her own life. It frees us as the readers up to be honest with ourselves and to others.
Some of the tips she gives us as readers are as follows:
- Walk in compassion and grace.
- Be patient when the going gets tough.
- Give up your right to be right.
- Appreciate him for who he is (not who you want him to be).
- Allow him to lead.
- Handle conflict wisely.
- Communicate with loving respect.
That's just the beginning. The whole purpose is not just to help your marriage be better, but to also help you through your marriage reflect God's glory as a couple together.
This book gives the reader (myself included) hope for improvement no matter what state your marriage is in. it's a wonderful addition to anyone's library.
