I was having an I need to slow down day and I did. It was so nice. Even though it was sprinkling a little I decided to take pictures of some of my flowers. I also thought I would share them with you.
This is a small part of my cute white picket fence. The daffodils have been beautiful this year. Some have even been peeking through the other side just to say hello to me in the house. I have many many clumps around the church property and it has been just a blaze of yellow smiling flowers. I'm sad to say that the rain we have had since I took the pictures has not only dampened my spirits, but also my flowers. They are some sad little things now.
You can see that some of my perennials are starting to really come up. Even since I took these there has been tremendous growth. I have bloom heads on my iris already and that means summer is very close!!
For the last 5 years I have been removing what I call filler plants that if left alone would overtake a garden. Slowly I have been able to thin things out and replace with some lovely perennials and the occasional annual. This year I am really looking forward to finishing up with my plans. Landscaping is one of my favorite things to do. Two years ago I did the yards of several friends. It was a lot of fun!! This year it is all for me and I am really looking forward to it.
Gardening has always been a calming thing for me. There is just something about feeling the soil between your fingers, smelling the rich humus and flowers and just enjoying the sounds that always accompany time in the garden. So I think I will take my shoes off and just enjoy for a little longer.
Well on second thought, maybe not. This seems to be what happens to shoes left unattended too long in my yard. Guess I better keep my tootsies covered up!
Thanks for stopping by again and enjoying my flowers with me. Have a wonderful rest of the week. I know I will!!
Those daffodils have to be my favorite, what a ray of sunshine! Mine had snow in them the other day and were droopy! Love the shoes on the bottom, you want to give me some garden tips? Love it Lois!
ReplyDeleteI think I want you to come landscape my yard . . . not this yard, the one I hope to have some day. :) Those daffodils are lovely, the first harbingers of Spring for us, so I always enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteLois, your daffies are gorgeous and so is your blog! I want to spend more time with it but I must go to bed to rise for an early morning meeting. I've briefly looked at your blog and I LOVE what I see. Beautiful creations and a gentle spirit! I signed up to follow so I will be back.
ReplyDeleteWe have so much in common! I'm a pastor's wife...two sons. When I read your earlier post about all their mishaps my heart could really feel yours. I so appreciated your testimony of faithfulness when the world reels!
